Climbing Ishinca - Tocllaraju Mountain

Altitude of the Ishinca: 5.530 m.

Altitude of the Tocllaraju: 6.032 m.

Duration: 12 days.

Difficulty: PD

Climbing Season: May to September

Itinerary:

Day 1: flight to Lima, transfer to hotel.

Day 2 : Lima - Huaraz by bus.

Day 3 : acclimatization trek Churup Lake (4,400m) and return to Huaraz .

Day 4: leave Huaraz on private transportation to the village of Collon, where we meet the donkeys and arrieros that will help carry the climbing gear. Here is the starting point of the trek to base camp (4,200m), which takes about 4-5 hours depending on the trekking pace.

Day 5: Trek to Ishinca base camp (approx. 5 hours)

Day 6: early start (3 am) to the summit of Ishinca (5.530m), and return to camp 1

Day 7: trek to camp 1 of Tocllaraju (approx. 6 hours). The last 2 hours of the climb are on the glacier and may require roping up.  

Day 8: early start (2 am) to the summit of Tocllaraju ( 6.034m), and return to camp 1. The round trip to the summit and back takes about 9-10 hours.

Day 9: return to base camp at 4,200m.

Day 10: descend from base camp to the village of Collon, where private transportation will transfer us back to Huaraz.

 

Dia 11: Huaraz - Lima , Hostal .

Day 12: Transfer to airport and return flight.

EXPEDITION COSTS INCLUDE:

- 2 nights lodging in Lima (double bed, breakfast included)

- 3 nights lodging in Huaraz (double bed, breakfast included)

- Bus transportation Lima - Huaraz and private local transportation Huaraz - Pashpa - Huaraz.

- Mountain guide, porters and cook.

- Donkeys to carry the common gear (tents, food and fuel) as well as  personal gear (up to 20 kg per person)

- Kitchen gear and cooking facilities at base camp (including dining tent, chairs, cooking tent). Food for the whole duration of the climb (breakfast, lunch and dinner) is included.

-Climbing gear: rope, plastic boots, harness, ice axes

- Camping gear: 4 season tent

- First aid kit

- Check-up for oxygen to assess acclimatization level of each client.

- Entry to National Park Huascarán.

Not included:

- Food costs outside the climb (Lima and Huaraz)

- Flight from country of origin to Lima

- Extra days of lodging due to delays of the trip

- Personal trekking and climbing gear (sleeping bag, sleeping mattress etc..)

- Personal expenses.

Recommended gear:
Lightweight walking shoes/sandals/socks/pants/short pants/T-shirts (long sleeve and short sleeve)/sunglasses/sunscreen/plastic bags/warm sleeping bag /light weight trekking boots/wool socks/light weight treeking pants/waterproof pants and jacket/fleece/Goretex/hat/mits or warm gloves/thermal liners/camera/bandana or hat against sun/headlamp with extra batteries.
Safety Individual gear:
Glacier glasses 100% UV with rigid case (2 pair recommended)/ goggles/ sunscreen with maximum protection/lipbalm/4 season sleeping bag/ sleeping pad or thermarest/hat/thermal underwear/fleece jacket/fleece pants/down jacket/Goretex jacket or similar material/2 pairs of gloves or mittens/ pair of thermal glove liners/2 pairs of thermal sock liners/plastic boots/gaiters.
